SmallBall a Good Honest Pastime ~ toodead

Let’s face facts; I am definitely not a good owner in this game. There, I said it, I guess I can sit down and relax, because admitting my faults can only make me stronger. One day, if I should be so lucky, I might have to join a “smallball anonymous” group. Now do not get me wrong, I love smallball and I am so very tempted to spend a small fortune on the game. However, if I did that, would I be a better smallball owner or a man who cannot face his addictions? My gosh, so many choices and not a single counselor to guide me. Sometimes, life stinks.
My addiction started sometime in October. I was surfing the net looking for something, to amuse myself with. I wanted a game, that was free, and was easy to play, and somehow I came across Smallball. Wow, imagine being an owner of a baseball team, for the rest of my life, and being able to train the players in anyway I saw fit.
Being a good plagiarist, I decided to scope out the forums and find out what I could steal. I found out that I needed to train those players and that lefties are not oddballs like in real life. In fact, they are worshipped in smallball. Anyway, in order to train these players, I need to make them run; throw, hit, catch, and I guess I also have to make them happy. Imagine a world in which all you need to do to get faster is to get off your butt and start running. It is kind of mind boggling, if you know what I mean.
Therefore, I found myself training my players whenever there was a sliver of training potential and playing as many games as I could. However, I kept reading the forums and found out that in time, a player’s skills will diminish. Unless you keep training in that particular area then you are wasting training potential. I was torn, because I liked seeing immediate results, no matter how short lived. I have a hard time seeing one of my players drop a ball, which then leads to my opponent having a 5-run inning, it’s very discouraging.
Anyway, I kept training and before I knew it, my team was finally three stars but I had an honor rating of 1.2 or something like that. Therefore, I started playing teams that had honor ratings of 7.8 with three stars, like mine. I thought that playing teams with high honor would increase my team’s honor. Bad logic because my honor still kept going down. Turns out, that those teams were not really three star teams but were in fact one star teams and that the only way to increase honor is to play teams with the same stars or more stars than your own. Thank goodness for other smallball owners posting in the forum.
Well, here I am, my team is at five stars and they’re in the top twenty of the listed five star teams. The question is, when am I going to get myself a DT? To be honest, I don’t know, but I’ll let you know. Maybe I will write another article, who knows?
