Trials and Tribulations

This is a series written by the newcomers in smallball. Once a week a new writer will share his or her experiences in the wonderful world of smallball.

Finally reaching 9* ~ Medric

I started my team, Devestators (514243) on July 7, 2005. I had played smallball a year earlier with team 383100, but I became unsatisfied when my team had only reached 5* a month later. After a year of not playing , I decided to come back and see if anything had changed . I figured, what the hay, it wont hurt anything to play and try again. I tried finding my old team with no avail, so I started this new team. This time, in a month I had reached 8*, made 7+ honor rating, and PL9. My first thought was that I was on my way to instant success. My team had DT, Field of Dreams Stadium, and I had a pitcher that threw 112-113 m.p.h.
Boy was I wrong!
After I wasn't able to train my team for 3 straight days, my pitcher's pitch speed fell to 90 m.p.h. and my team really stunk. I decided to trade for several pitch QTs, and I used them to find my true pitcher. I immediately found several good players to try as pitchers, as I still stuck with my original pitcher named Devestator. On Thursday, September 29, 2005, I decided to try this other guy in pitching. After training that day, I checked my team page out and what did I see? YAHOO!"I screamed, I had made 9 *. My mom came in to see what was going on, thinking that I had gone mad, but I just told her that it was smallball, and she just rolled her eyes as she walked out of the room. I had achieved one of my goals, all I have to do now on my goal list, was reach 10* ,Win a PL1 championship, and to beat the team that I have always looked up to "The Chicago Mob" which I came close to beating once 8-7. After I have achieved these goals, I will probably retire my team, and guide all young rookie teams that ask for my help. Hopefully that wont be for a long time. This was the second coolest thing that had ever happened to me, the first being going to Yankee Stadium for the first time last year on September 6th, 2004. I still remember my seat too: Tier:16, Row:T, Seat:3 (I actually sat in seat 4, because I was with family, and there was an expty seat next to me, so I sat there and stretched out a little) We had to leave at 8:30, because I had school the next day, but beside the trip to Yankee Stadium, reaching some of my goals in smallball, was the coolest thing ever!
